Overweight and Obesity among Adolescents at Othón P. Blanco Secondary School in Chetumal City, Quintana Roo
Keywords:
Overweight, Obesity, Anthropometric studies, AdolescentsAbstract
The primary purpose of this research was to explore the challenges associated with overweight and obesity among young people, as well as the underlying causes of personal dissatisfaction that hinder the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits. The proposed methods were specifically designed for adolescents of a certain age group and were based on data obtained from surveys and anthropometric measurements to quantify body fat percentage. Meeting this requirement is essential for the implementation of further research. It is also crucial in enabling the patient to continue their studies in nutrition and to receive the psychological and nutritional treatment of their choice. The findings of the assessment were derived from the research methodologies employed in the project, which allowed for the identification of the key causes of overweight and obesity linked to body dissatisfaction. This is a topic of particular interest, as it highlights the connection between adolescence and the development of personal identity among young people. Furthermore, it is acknowledged that obesity acts as a barrier that complicates this developmental process.
